Customers are the lifeblood of a business. Whereas sales is the insurance of such business.
However, here is the BRUTAL truth.
If you don’t know how to market your service, your product…. yourself, you won’t LAST much in ANY business.
And even if you do survive a little, you won’t make much money. I explained how to market like a pro in my advanced Ninja Marketing training System
I’m going to tell you a story. Just so you get it.
A few years back, I went niche-hunting to buy some stuff.
So, while searching through the market I saw two products that caught my eye. A Vaginal Tightening cream and a Career-Transition Material.
The moment I saw it I knew it would sell like crazy with the RIGHT marketing.
So I tapped into it. I told my friend about it. He laughed and doubted I’d be able to sell those off.
Just like that. I ordered some of the products online. Fixed in an address and some little shipping details for the Tightening cream.
The supplier looked at me, saw I obviously didn’t have breasts and probably thought of asking me what I wanted to do with the thing.
That evening I walked out of his store with an agreement about his TWO cartons.
One carton contained about 50 pieces. The three of them had 150 pieces. I created a marketing campaign, took the product campaign online, tripled the price of the product and sold it off in less than 30 days.
Seeing the success in that market, I went ahead, into another market: The Education market. Got the career-transition material. (They were like GMAT and A-level exams) met with a publisher who got 150 copies published for me at N50 per copy.
The publisher was in shock at what I’d be doing with such and how I’d sell off those “large” number of copies.
I Replicated and tweaked my marketing campaign. 10X the price up. Sold each copy at N500. Within 15days, 150 copies were sold off without me putting a dime of my money into it by leveraging “OPM”.
When I came back, told the lady the 150 was finished and I wanted more of about 1,000 copies prepared. She was shocked. She was still struggling to sell off the less than 50 copies that’s been in her shop for over 4months…..

Here is the first rule.
Don’t EVER chase customers.
Don’t.
They should chase you.
Now think of it, this way.
Remember how you feel when you walk into the market and someone attempts to drag your arms? You feel annoyed, irritated and pissed.
That is what you do when you go around stuffing your flyers into people’s hands.
You irritate them, some of them even take your flyers to the toilet, and complete their nasty project ?.
I kid you not.
They should chase you.
How?
I will get to how in a bit, but here is the FIRST thing you must get right before you start looking for a customer.
First, Find a Unique Selling Point for your business.
And be clear who your customers are.
I once consulted for a big name in the legal industry (I hope she doesn’t see this. LOL),
she was trying to sell a book of hers online but sales were low.
VERY low, so she hired me to help take a look at her business.
When we talked over Zoom, I asked her one question.
‘’What is your selling point’’
She stared at me, then said something I didn’t like.
So I asked her a question. What are you selling?
‘’A book”, She replied. I shook my head, No that is not what you are selling. In fact, the reason you are not making shishi is that you think you are just selling “a book”.
‘’Now, what does iPhone sell?’’
By now she was getting uncomfortable.
‘’Phones’’. She replied.
I felt like giving her a knock at this point. I shook my head.
‘’No’’. I said. ‘’iPhone sells the expensive phone. Class’’
‘’What does Techno sell?’’.
By now she was getting it, so she said…
‘’Affordable smartphones’’.
I smiled at her.
“’Good. Iphone sells expensive phones.
Clear selling point. Techno sells affordable smartphones’’.
That is what every great business has in common.
Unique selling point.
So I asked her again. What are you selling, ma’am. She threw her hands up at this point, confused. I smiled.
‘’You don’t have a selling point’’. I told her. ‘’Now lets get you one’’.
So I told her to sell her book for youths who wanted to earn from their writing. And to position the product as a solution for making money via writing. That single clarity doubled her sale the next month.
Here is why this works so well.
The more specific your selling point is, the more you attract customers.
Why.
Take a book for instance, everyone is selling it. But when she came and said;
‘’This is just for youths who earnestly want to make a living from writing ✍️. youths who just got started or were swiping through social media will say to themselves
– ‘’since this is just for us, and not like the random book thingy out there then it probably works. Let me choose it over the rest of the craps out there’’
Bam…more sale.

What happens?
You PULL them in. So this is the key, offer something relevant to the target audience you are working to attract and they will come for it.
ATTRACTION. With a free gift.
I once worked with a school owner. She wanted to get more students in her school. Her school was nice, quite big and beautiful in Lagos. The environment was cool but parents were not bringing in their kids.
